Prices in your country

Learn how WEMASY sets its prices per country, which currency you pay in, and how your billing country decides the price you see.

Draft

WEMASY sets its prices per country, based on what money is worth in that country. That way a website stays affordable for people all around the world. This article explains how the price you see is chosen, which currency you pay in, and what to check if a price looks wrong.

How the price is chosen

Every country belongs to one price level. Countries with a higher buying power have the standard price list. Countries with a lower buying power get a lower price list for the same plans.

  • On the public pricing page, the prices open on the country you visit from. You can pick another country on the page to see its prices.
  • In the dashboard, the plan picker shows a Country and a Currency. The country is chosen in this order: India for a website in India, then the country of your website's own domain (for example .de for Germany, .com for the United States), then your own country when it has a lower price list (your billing country, or else the country you signed up from). Otherwise it shows the Netherlands, which has the standard price list.
  • The currency in the plan picker is the billing currency saved in your billing details, or else the currency of the country shown.
  • You can pick another country in the plan picker to see its prices.

So an account in the United States whose site still runs on its free WEMASY address sees the Netherlands. The amounts are right: the United States and the Netherlands both have the standard price list.

Add ons on the Usage page, AI credits and extra mailboxes are priced in your billing currency. Each screen shows the price you are charged at checkout, before you pay.

Which currency you pay in

WEMASY charges in euro, US dollars or Indian rupees. The default follows your billing country:

  • Euro: in most of Europe, such as the euro countries, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the Nordic countries.
  • Indian rupees: in India.
  • US dollars: in all other countries.

You can pick another of these three currencies under Billing currency in your billing details. The price list still follows your billing country.

The billing details with the Country and Billing currency fields

Your bank may add its own fee when it converts the amount to your local currency. The currency you are charged in is shown as Billing currency in your billing details. See Billing details and VAT.

Monthly or yearly

The yearly option shows the real saving for your country, worked out from the monthly and the yearly price. In Europe and the United States, a yearly plan also includes the first year of one new standard domain. In India and in the countries with a lower price list, there is no included domain year: the domain is paid from the first year, and the free *.wemasy.app address stays free. See Plan overview and comparison.

The country check at payment

For the lower price lists, WEMASY compares the country of the card or bank account you pay with to your billing country. If they do not match, the WEMASY team reviews the subscription. Your subscription keeps working while that happens. Use your real billing country, so the price and the tax on your invoice are right.
